This exhibition was held at the Philosophical Research Society, Los Angeles, from July 23 – September 25, 2011. Responsding to the disastrous earthquakes of 2011 in North Honshu, the exhibition, showcasing Manly P. Hall’s collection of surimono, ukiyo-e, Japanese photographs and books, was designed as a fundraiser for the victims of the earthquake. It celebrated the spirit of the Japanese people and their shinto and Buddhist roots, bringing them into intimate relationship with the elemental forces of nature.
