Thats so rightly put and in the correct perspective Don and Jan,

Also
we must be careful of the attempt to reduce Consciousness to a material
and mechanical phenomenon as indeed much of quantum mechanics implies,
even when it talks of the electron behaving as if making choices. It is
in fact one way of discarding the Truth by admitting and explaining it
away. Sri Aurobindo pointed out this possibility and this new form of
danger from the 'adversary'.

The whole issue is whether
Consciousness is a primary fundamental Reality of this universe that
becomes matter at some point of time or is this world primarily matter
and consciousness itself is nothing but a shadow dragging at its feet.
The two propositions may sound similar but have very different
connotations in relation to our world view and impulse to act in it.
Besides we also have to take into account the fact that while there are
many theories regarding the origin of Consciousness most of these are
non-verifiable and therefore ebven if logical conjectures at bes! t.
The yogic view however insists that the truths are verifiable by an
inner psychological process given the time, right method and sincerity
of effort and of course the mysterious incalculable factor of Grace.

The
yogic vision therefore falls in a very distinctly separate quality than
that of the scientific conclusions or inferences drawn by the
intellect. This is the second distinction, in other words the issue is
not only whether consciousness is inherent in matter but that
consciousness can climb far beyond what man is, even now and undersatnd
and see much better. Beacuse if that be so then the most logical thing
to do is work towards this ascent rather than draw inferences now with
whatever data we have for in the end we may discover that the very data
was corrupted.

Thanks.
